A tanker truck accident created morning rush hour problems on Interstate 95 in Stamford.
The state Department of Transportation says I-95 northbound was closed after an early morning crash that caused a truck to spill some methanol on the highway. They did not report the scene cleared until shortly after 7 a.m.
The highway was closed northbound between exits 6 and 9 as crews worked to clean up the mess, and the backup from the 2:30 a.m. accident stretched almost 4 miles by 5 a.m.
Authorities say southbound traffic also was affected because some lanes on that side of the highway also were closed during the cleanup effort
