Connecticut Serviceman Killed In Afghanistan

A soldier from North Granby is the latest Connecticut serviceman to be killed in Afghanistan. Army Specialist Richard Emmons III was the driver for a mounted patrol in Logar Province Tuesday when the vehicle was hit by a rocket-propelled grenade.

Spc. Emmons, who enlisted two years ago, was 22. He was a member of the second Battalion, 30TH Infantry, 4th Brigate Combat, 10th Mountain Division, based in Fort Polk, Louisiana.

Governor Dannel Malloy ordered Connecticut and U-S Flags to fly at half-staff until Spc. Emmons burial.
