A Deadly Start To Holiday Weekend On Connecticut Highways
State Police are investigating two deadly traffic accidents as the Memorial Day weekend began early Saturday. Crashes on Interstate 95 in Groton and Route 85 in Bolton claimed lives.
In Groton, State Police say Laura Lavazanjian, 27, of Setauket, New York was killed when she was thrown from a minivan that crashed on I-95 southbound about a mile north of Exit 88 around 1:30 a.m. The driver of the van, David Reidy, 27, of Newport, Rhode Island, was taken to Lawrence and Memorial Hospital in New London, said troopers.
On Route 85 in Bolton, police say a crash in the area of Deer Run Road also involved a fatality, but the details were not immediately available.
