At least four people were injured in a three-car wrong-way crash that closed a stretch of Interstate 84 in Hartford for several hours.
It happened in the eastbound lanes between exits 49 and 50 just before the Hartford Tunnel. State Police say a car driving west crashed into eastbound around 10 last night. A Hartford Police cruiser at the scene also crashed. The highway was closed for more than three hours.
Police say six people suffered serious injuries in the crash, and the driver of the second car remains in intensive care. The police officer suffered minor injuries. The wrong-way driver was not injured.
The stretch of road where the crash occurred was undergoing construction at the time of the accident.
