Good News Celebrated At Pratt and Whitney
State lawmakers and employees of Pratt & Whitney have scheduled a rally to celebrate a string of business successes for the East Hartford-based jet engine maker.
The subsidiary of United Technologies Corp. has been buoyed in recent months by purchase orders for its next-generation engine and a decision by Congress that left the company as the only manufacturer of the Pentagon’s F-35 Joint Strike Fighter jet engine.
Several elected officials, including Governor Malloy, Representative John Larson and others are expected to attend.
Organizers say the rally in East Hartford also is intended to emphasize the importance of defense contracting in Connecticut’s manufacturing economy.
