Pink Police Cruiser Promotes Breast Cancer Awareness

NEW BRITAN, Conn. (CBS Connecticut) – New Britain residents may be excused  if they make the occasional “double-take” during May,  when a pink-and-white police cruiser passes their way.

New Britain Police say a cruiser has been covered in pink and white and dons a breast cancer awareness ribbon on the hood, just in time for the 2011 “Race in the Park,” which raises money for breast cancer programs.

Police say Sergeant Robert Martin suggested the pink-and-white cruiser,  whose decoration was donated by Sign Pro of New Britain, as a tribute to the race participants who have battled breast cancer and to their loved ones.

It will lead the race,  and will take part in events throughout May, in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month,  wrapping up with the Memorial Day Parade.
