STAMFORD, Conn.—A 26-year-old Hartford woman has been accused of driving under the influence after allegedly causing a fiery crash on Interstate 95 in Darien that killed a truck driver and a female passenger.
Yadira Torres was arrested at Norwalk Hospital on Saturday and faces charges including second degree manslaughter and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
She was ordered held on $100,000 bond pending a court appearance Monday.
State police say that at about 6 a.m. Saturday, Torres passed the tractor trailer, then lost control and hit the truck.
They say the truck spun around, overturned and caught fire,
Passersby pulled the passenger free, but she later died at a local hospital. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Torres suffered minor injuries.
Police didn’t immediately identify the victims.
