Police: Man Arrested Twice In One Night For DUI

State Police say a Putnam man was arrested not once but twice in one night for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol.

James Maguire, Jr., 29, was stopped on Interstate 395 early Saturday because his vehicle’s tail lights were not illuminated, said authorities. Police say Maguire failed a field sobriety test and was arrested.

It was during the booking process that police say they learned that Maguire had been arrested a few hours earlier by Putnam Police on a DUI charge.

Though Maguire lives in Putnam, police say his operator’s license is from Massachusetts, and his driving privileges had been revoked by Putnam Police.

Maguire’s due in Danielson Superior Court on April 28.
