Canterbury Man Charged With Child Sex Abuse

CANTERBURY, Conn. (AP) _ State police say they’ve charged a 65-year-old eastern Connecticut man with sexually assaulting a 3-year-old child.

Troopers say Robert Hardy of Canterbury turned himself in Friday morning at the state police barracks in Danielson. He posted $50,000 bail after being charged with misdemeanor fourth-degree sexual assault and felony risk of injury to a minor.

Authorities didn’t release details of the allegations. State police say they investigated the case with the Department of Children and Families.

There’s no phone listing for Hardy and it’s not clear if he has a lawyer. He is scheduled to be arraigned at Danielson Superior Court on April 28.
