DANIELSON, Conn. (AP) – A Killingly teacher and cheerleading coach has been arraigned on charges of hosting an underage drinking party at her home.
A not guilty plea was entered on behalf of 60-year-old Karen Rubino on Wednesday in Danielson Superior Court where she was arraigned on eight counts of reckless endangerment and allowing minors to possess alcohol.
Police say they broke up a party at Rubino’s Brooklyn home on March 4 where eight people under age 21 were allegedly drinking. Court documents do not indicate the exact ages of the minors, or how they know Rubino.
Rubino’s lawyer refused comment on the case.
The Norwich Bulletin reports that Rubino remains on administrative leave from her teaching job.
