HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) _ Connecticut Treasurer Denise Nappier has chosen a former state senator from West Hartford to become her new deputy.

Nappier announced Wednesday that Jonathan Harris, a one-time Democratic candidate for secretary of the state in last year’s election, has been appointed deputy treasurer. Nappier also named Christine Shaw, the treasurer’s acting communications director, chief of staff.

Harris, an attorney in private practice, served on the West Hartford Town Council. He was also mayor of West Hartford and represented the towns of West Hartford, Farmington, Bloomfield and Burlington as a state senator.

Nappier says an advisory group helped her screen applicants and recommend top candidates.

Both Nappier and Harris are Democrats.

I am sure this hire happened after an extensive nationwide search. Thank goodness Harris won’t be forced back into the dreaded private sector, where your paycheck is actually related to your production! Now you can relax and enjoy that bloated health-care package and pension at the workingman’s expense!!!
