Sunday, Vernon police reported two separate arrests. The first incident involved a man exposing himself to a woman while performing a sexual act. Police identify him as 31-year-old Daniel Mer, of Manchester, who is a teacher at Roosevelt Middle School in New Britain, according to the school’s Website.
Mer was charged with public indecency and breach of peace.
Police say on Saturday, around 10:17 in the morning, they received a complaint from a female that while she was walking on Lake Street, near Lake Street School, a man in a vehicle passed her and pulled into the intersection of Rosewood Drive and Lake Street, forcing the girl to walk around Mer’s vehicle. As she walked around, the female said Mer put his left leg out of the vehicle and the female saw that Mer was naked from the waist down. She also said Mer was performing a sexual act on himself while looking at the female.
Mer then drove up Rosewood Drive, a dead-end road, and the female was able to get the license plate number and a vehicle description. Police say they talked with Mer and that led to his arrest. His bond was set at $2,500. He has a March 22 court day.
