Arnone To Stay On As Correction Commissioner; Redeker Named Acting DOT Head

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) _ Gov. Dannel P. Malloy has reappointed Leo Arnone  as the Department of Correction commissioner and named an acting Department of Transportation commissioner.

Malloy announced the appointments Friday.

Arnone is a 22-year veteran of the Department of Correction. He has also worked for the Judicial Branch and the Department of Children and Families. He’s been the interim commissioner appointed by former Gov. M. Jodi Rell.

Malloy said Arnone is well-liked by the staff and well-respected by his peers. He says Arnone will look to find ways to cut costs and reduce the reoffender rate.

James Redeker will serve as acting DOT commissioner until a permanent commissioner is nominated. He joined the agency in 2008 after a 30-year career with the New Jersey Department of Transportation and New Jersey Transit.
