Pedestrian Struck, Killed By Train

A pedestrian was struck and killed by a train in Groton Wednesday morning. An Amtrak train traveling from Washington D.C. to Boston struck and killed the pedestrian around 9:45 a.m. just west of Mystic, said a railroad spokesman.

None of the 108 people aboard the train was injured, said the railroad. There was no immediate word on the identity of the person who was hit.

The speed limit on the tracks through the area is 80 miles per hour.
