250 Forced From Waterbury Building

Waterbury police say more than 250 people have been displaced from their homes in a high-rise apartment building for the next day or two,  after water and electrical problems at the building on Hillside Avenue.

An open standpipe on the third floor sent water pouring into apartments on the bottom three floors — and also affected electricity and fire alarms on the seven upper floors.

The Red Cross is helping house some evacuated residents at the North End Recreation Center.
