Six Charged in Norwich YMCA Burglary

Norwich police have charged six juveniles with vandalizing the city’s vacant YMCA building on Main Street. Detectives say between last December and early this month, the building had been broken into on four different occassions.

Police said damage included broken windows and office equipment, as well as to computers, plumbing fixtures, doors, and two pools. Damage has been estimated to be in the thousands of dollars.

In addition to the damage, officers say a large first aid medical bag was missing. The six face charges of burglary, criminal mischief, larceny, and criminal trespass. Their names have not been released because of their ages.
