Snowmobile Accident Injures Operator

WINHALL, Vt. (AP) _ Police in the Vermont town of Winhall say a Connecticut man was hurt when he was hit by a pickup truck while crossing Vermont Routes 11 and 30 on a snowmobile.

Winhall police say the snowmobile being operated by 48-year-old Carl Napoletano of East Hampton, Conn., pulled into the roadway in front of the pickup truck while attempting to cross the three-lane highway at about 10:20 a.m. Monday.

The impact caused Napoletano to fly about 30-feet through the air.

Napoletano was treated at the scene and then transported to Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington.

Police say his injuries did not appear to be life threatening.

Neither the driver of the pickup truck or a passenger, his 13-month-old daughter, were hurt.
