EAST HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) _ Police have arrested seven people in East Hartford after breaking up what they called a “large-scale heroin distribution operation.”

Police say they began investigating after receiving complaints about drug dealing at 197 Britt Road, which is near an elementary school.

They said they served a warrant at the house Friday and arrested 30-year-old Sharad Collier and 29-year-old Ebony

Collier on various charges, including possession of heroin with intent to sell. Five others were arrested in the house on drug possession charges.

Police say they found drugs and drug paraphernalia at the house, including 525 bags of heroin, digital scales and cutting agents.

They also found four children, ages 3 to 13. The Department of Children and Families was called to assist.

No one answered a call to the address Monday.
