Bank To Cut 229 Jobs

A Labor Department posting says 229 jobs are being eliminated in Manchester and New Haven as First Niagara acquires New Alliance Banks.

The state Labor Department website includes the cuts on its “WARN” (Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification) list posted on its website.

The layoffs are listed as beginning in mid-April and running through January of next year.

The merger was announced last August,  and approved by shareholders of both companies in December.
