The University of Connecticut says school trustees and longtime donor Robert Burton have agreed to resume their relationship. Burton recently wrote a letter strongly critical of the school’s athletic department — and asking that his family’s name be taken off the”Burton Family Football Complex” and three million dollars he had given for the facility returned.
Trustees chairman Larry McHugh met with the family on Wedesday, and says it was clear family members were unhappy with their recent estrangement from the university. Burton says after reflecting on the situation, he’s decided not to let one experience change the relationship with UConn. In his words, “We love the university, we’re proud of our association and it is going to continue.”
