1972 Prison Escapee Traced To Connecticut
A woman who broke out of a Pennsylvania prison in 1972, was recently tracked to Connecticut. It was the oldest unsolved prison-escape case in Pennsylvania. Now federal investigators say they’fe learned that Mitlean Wright died in New Britain in 2003, after being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.
U-S Marshal Marty Pane says the woman was serving a robbery sentence when she escaped.
The longtime fugitive had been living in Connecticut under the name Vernell Wright. Her obituary said she had four children.
