1972 Prison Escapee Traced To Connecticut

A woman who broke out of a Pennsylvania prison in 1972, was recently tracked to Connecticut.  It was the oldest unsolved prison-escape case in Pennsylvania.  Now federal investigators say they’fe learned that  Mitlean  Wright died in New Britain in 2003, after being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.

U-S Marshal Marty Pane says the woman was serving a robbery sentence when she escaped.

The longtime fugitive had been living in Connecticut under the name Vernell Wright.  Her obituary said she had four children.
