Four people are lucky to be okay after the massive Mototown USA building on Day Hill Road in Windsor began to collapse, as they were on the roof clearing snow Monday afternoon.
The workers heard a rumbling noise and made it to safety just before the indoor motorcycle racing venue completely collapsed, said Windsor Police Captain Thomas LePore.
The collapse occurred shortly before 3 p.m. and the structure is believed to be a total loss, LePore said. “It was a pretty significant failure and we’re very fortunate there were no injuries,” he said.
An adjoining building that houses several businesses remains standing— and they’ve been given the okay to reopen on Tuesday, said authorities.
