Customers Chase Robbery Suspect

WEST HAVEN, Conn. (AP) _ A bank robbery suspect is in custody thanks to two customers who chased him down.

Police say 40-year-old James Bieu went into the New Alliance Bank in West Haven on Saturday and gave the teller a note saying he would shoot her unless she gave him the money.

Police say he took the cash and fled.

Two customers chased him out of the building and pulled him out of a getaway vehicle driven by a woman. The vehicle took off.

The customers held the suspect until police arrived. He was charged with first-degree threatening with a firearm and second-degree larceny. All the money was recovered.
