Economic Development Commissioner Takes New York Job

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) _ Connecticut’s economic development commissioner is leaving her position to become New York’s top transportation leader.

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Friday that he is nominating Joan McDonald to his state’s transportation commissioner job.

McDonald has been commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development since 2007.

Before her appointment, she was senior vice president for transportation at the New York City Economic Development Corp. She was also deputy commissioner for planning and traffic operations at the New York City Department of Transportation.

Connecticut Gov. Dannel P. Malloy had not named her replacement as of Monday.
