Bristol Police say an out-of-state man was stabbed multiple times Saturday after he left a downtown apartment and was looking for a place to buy cigarettes. Police say the 35-year-old man was visiting the family of his girlfriend and went out for a stroll in the West End of the city around 3:30 a.m. looking for an open store when he was approached by two men, who started an argument which escalated to the stabbing.
Police say the victim was able to make it back to the apartment and was taken to Bristol Hospital by private vehicle. He was later transferred to St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford where he was undergoing surgery Saturday morning. He was reported in stable condition.
As of mid-morning Saturday, police had not made any arrests.
