Man Charged with Dragging Dog behind Truck

Branford Police  say a Branford man is charged with cruelty to animals after driving his truck with a family member’s dog tied to the vehicle.

Police say a volunteer firefighter alerted police to the incident.  They say 76-year-old William Myrick drove about a tenth of a mile with the year-old Husky attached before the leash broke.

He told police he tied the dog to the truck after taking it for a walk,  then took a phone call from a family member who needed help, and drove away with the dog still tied to the vehicle.   The dog was treated for abrasions to the paws and hind legs.
