A former Hartford church purchased by the state in 2008,  now being renovated by the Department of Public,  will be named for Governor Jodi Rell.  Public Works Commissioner Raenne Curtis made the announcement Thursday,

The building at 129 Lafayette Street was formerly the Second Church of Christ.  It was purchased in March of 2008 for $2.25 million dollars and is undergoing renovation. It will be known as “Rell Hall.”

Plans are for the Georgian-style building to be used as a performing arts hall and for State Library storage space.   The building is located near both The Bushnell and the State Library and Supreme Court buildings.
Commissioner Curtis said the name change is effective immediately.
