HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) _ Gov.-elect Dan Malloy has chosen the mayor of East Hartford to run Connecticut’s Department of Motor Vehicles, saying he hopes to expand efforts to make the agency more consumer-friendly.
Malloy announced his pick of Melody Currey on Thursday, the latest member of his administrative team. It comes less than a week before he is set to become the first Democratic governor since William O’Neill left office in 1991.
Meanwhile, Malloy’s transition team announced that the public is invited to attend the inaugural ceremonies at the Hartford Armory. The event is free and open to the public on a first-come basis.
Doors will open at noon and the ceremony is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
