West Hartford Cops Nab Attempted Murder Suspect

A routine traffic stop in West Hartford early Wednesday resulted in the capture of Hartford man wanted for an attempted murder in Philadelphia.

Police say Rafael Jose Vasquez, 21, was a passenger in the van that was stopped in the area of Park Road and Prospect Street. He faces charges including being a fugitive from justice in Philadelphia, where he’s wanted on charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault with a knife, criminal conspiracy, and reckless endangerment.

He was being held on bonds totaling $800,000– due in Hartford Superior Court.

Police also arrested the driver of the van, identified as Edwin Torres, 29, of Hartford on motor vehicle charges.
