No Bus Strike For Now

The possibility of a bus strike has been put off at least temporarily.

Connecticut Transit General Manager David Lee says the organization and employees have agreed to extend the current contract until January 11.

“Parties will at some point meet next week,” Lee said.  “We don’t have a formal time set up for a meeting.”

“Things will continue normally for at least another two weeks,” Lee said.  He said the two sides may discuss using binding arbitration.

The contract originally would have expired at the start of the new year.

The union represents about 750 bus drivers and maintenance workers in Hartford, New Haven, and Stamford.
