State Prepares to Respond to Winter Storm

Governor Rell has the National Guard standing by,  and will open the Emergency Operations Center at the State Armory on Sunday,  to deal with any problems which might arise from the blizzard forecast for the state.

A spokesman in the governor’s office, says she spoke with representatives of the guard.  the Departments of Public Safety and Transportation and utility companies on Christmas day —  and will hold a conference call with local officials on Sunday.

He says road crews are treating road surfaces,  even before the snow starts.  Monday is a furlough day for many state workers,  but the furlough day for plow operators was earlier in the year.
