Teen Charged in Accidental Shooting

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) _ A 16-year-old Bridgeport girl has been hospitalized with a gunshot wound to the back and a 17-year-old boy has been charged with the shooting.

Police say the boy shot the girl accidentally. Jose Martinez Jr. has been charged with first-degree assault, carrying a pistol without a permit and first-degree reckless endangerment. He is being held on $100,000 bond.trans Teen Charged in Accidental Shooting

Police tell The Connecticut Post the girl, whose name wasn’t released, is in good condition at St. Vincent’s Medical Center despite the fact that doctors had not yet been able to remove the bullet.

Authorities say Martinez was in the back seat of a car with the victim and her boyfriend in the front when the shooting occurred on Friday. Martinez said he found the gun and examining it when it went off.
