Teen Critically Injured in Pellet Gun Mishap

Seymour police say they’re investigating the critical injury of a 13-year-old hit by a metal pellet from a pellet gun.  Police say the weekend incident at a house on Brookfield Road appears to be a tragic accident,  but their investigation is continuing.

They say it appears a pellet gun rifle leaning against a wall was knocked over as three middle school youngsters were playing in the room.  When one of the three went to retrieve it, not realizing it was loaded,  it discharged,  striking the victim in the side of the head.

Police say when authorities and ambulance personnel arrived,  he was bleeding profusely from the head wound, and remains in critical condition.
