Bridgeport Names New Police Chief
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) _ Connecticut’s largest city has a new police chief.
Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch has named Joseph Gaudett Jr. to the top spot, a position he has held on an acting basis since October 2008.
Gaudett was one of three finalists after a nationwide search.
Finch says Gaudett has done impressive work to boost police presence in Bridgeport’s neighborhoods, manage the department’s overtime and monitor crime patterns.
Gaudett is 50 and has been on the Bridgeport police force since 1983. He was born and raised in the city and comes from a family that includes several other officers.
