MANCHESTER, Conn. (AP) – A fight between two groups of students has led to 19 arrests at Manchester High School.
School officials say the fight broke out in a first-floor hallway just after 9 a.m. on Thursday, and did not involve any weapons. One police officer suffered a minor injury, and was treated and released from Manchester Memorial Hospital.
School superintendent Kathleen Oullette says the school was placed in lockdown for about 40 minutes while authorities made sure they had talked to everyone involved in the fight, which apparently stemmed from a dispute between two local gangs.
Those arrested face various charges, including second-degree rioting.
