HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) _ An Enfield man has been found guilty of killing his own grandmother.
Kevin McGuire was convicted by a jury on Thursday in Superior Court of murder for the June 2008 death of 85-year-old Lillian McGuire.
Sentencing was scheduled for Feb. 10.
Lillian McGuire was found beaten to death in her Enfield apartment.
Prosecutors said there was plenty of evidence pointing to 35-year-old Kevin McGuire, including the fact that his grandmother’s blood was found on his shirt. Authorities say he was angry because his grandmother would not lend him money and her car.
Defense attorneys said police work in the case was sloppy and police focused on McGuire as the suspect without considering alternatives.
