Arrestee Says Policeman Confiscated His Phone, Forwarded Photos

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) _ A Connecticut man arrested by police is accusing an officer of confiscating his phone and forwarding sexually explicit personal photos to himself and at least one other person.

A lawsuit filed in federal court claims Stamford Officer Michael Presti forwarded photographs and videos of William Vasilakos and his girlfriend at the time, Maria Saltsides.

Attorney Norman Pattis said Monday that the episode was deeply embarrassing for his client and he is seeking punitive damages.

The lawsuit says Presti sent himself the photos after arresting Vasilakos on a breach-of-peace charge in August 2008.

Presti says the matter has been resolved internally by the police and he declined to comment further.
Stamford police did not immediately respond to messages seeking comment.
