National Guard Troops Back In State

The first of three groups of soldiers from two units have returned to Connecticut, after serving in Afghanistan.

The troops returned to the Army Aviation Support Facility at Bradley International Airport, where they were welcomed by cheering relatives, friends, and fellow soldiers.

About 600 soldiers from the 102nd Infantry, and the 86th Brigade Support Battalion started serving in Afghanistan in January.

One member of the infantry unit, Staff Sergeant Edwin Rivera, was killed during combat in Afghanistan in May.
