Trumbull Toddler Dies after Falling into River

TRUMBULL, Conn. (AP) _ A toddler has died after falling into a Trumbull river.
Bridgeport Hospital spokesman John Cappiello said 21-month-old Thomas Chisholm of Trumbull died just before 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
Trumbull Deputy Police Chief Michael Harry said the boy was outside with his mother, Ruth Chisholm, and was briefly out of her sight when he apparently fell into the Pequonnock River at about 10:40 a.m.
Harry said the river was high from recent rains and the boy was swept downstream. He was found by a Bridgeport police officer about two hours later more than a mile away.
Cappiello said a hospital medical team worked several hours in an attempt to save the boy.
