Suspect Extradited in Norwich Cold Case Killing

NORWICH, Conn. (AP) _ A 30-year-old man is being held on $1.5 million bond after he was extradited from New Jersey to face murder charges in the 2006 fatal shooting of a 19-year-old man in Norwich.

Authorities say Bruce Gathers was returned to Connecticut on Monday on a warrant charging him with murder, felony murder and criminal use of a firearm in the June 3, 2006 death of Sean Hill.

Gathers was serving time in New Jersey in an unrelated case.

Another suspect, 28-year-old Gregory Smith, was arrested while serving a seven-year sentence in Connecticut for robbing a man who was with Hill before Hill was shot. Gathers was sentenced to four years in prison for robbing the other man.

Gathers will be arraigned Tuesday in Norwich Superior Court. It was not immediately clear if he has legal representation.
