Newington police say they have one suspect in custody and are seeking a second after a weekend attack on a cab driver on Cedar Street.  The victim told police two men punched at him, spat at him, and stole the keys to his cab in the early-morning incident.

A police dog tracked the suspects,  who fought with police,  resulting in a broken hand for one officer and a serious bite for another.  One suspect was taken into custody, but the other got away.

Police charged 25-year-old Gerald Margelot of Amston with a variety of crimes, including larceny, robbery, assault on a police officer, disorderly conduct, criminal mischief and intimidation based on bigotry or bias. Police are looking for the other suspect.  They asked anyone with information to call Newington Police.
