HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) _ U.S. Rep. Rosa DeLauro has won re-election to an 11th term in Congress from Connecticut’s 3rd District.
She easily defeated Jerry Labriola Jr., a real estate lawyer from Wallingford with a familiar political name. Labriola’s father was a state senator who ran both for governor and U.S. Senator. It was the younger Labriola’s first attempt at political office.
DeLauro, the co-chair of the House Steering and Policy Committee, won despite giving away much of the $1.1 million she raised for her campaign to other candidates.
Labriola, whose campaign manager had been the statewide co-ordinator for the Connecticut Tea Party Patriots organization, raised just $176,000 through September.
