Oil Spill Prompts Early Dismissal at Seymour School

Students at Bungay Elementary School in Seymour were dismissed at 10 a.m. Monday after 150 to 200 gallons of heating oil spilled outside the school.

School officials say the spill occurred around 9 a.m. during an oil delivery when the tank overflowed.
There is no danger to students, but the spill created an overwhelming smell, said Seymour Superintendent of Schools MaryAnne Mascolo.

Parents were being alerted of the early dismissal.
