Anthem, Blue Cross Reach Agreement

Hartford Hospital and Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield have reached a contract agreement in advance of Sunday’s deadline.

Had Anthem not reached an agreement with Hartford Healthcare Corporation,  coverage would been interrupted for Anthem patients at Hartford Hospital  and Windham Community Memorial Hospital,   forcing them to pay more or use other hospitals starting Monday.

The agreement reached Friday means they’ll be able to continue to use the Hartford and Windham hospitals for elective surgeries and other procedures.  Details of the new contract were not released,  but Hartford Healthcare president Elliot Joseph says it recoginizes and reflects each organization’s committment to the community,  to patients and to  quality, cost effective health care.
