East Hartford Man Sentenced in Sex Offender Case
HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) _ An East Hartford man has been sentenced to four years in prison for having inappropriate sexual contact with two young girls.
Ramon Santana received a 12-year sentence on Thursday, with four to serve and the rest suspended with 10 years of probation. He was also ordered to register as a sex offender and undergo sex offender treatment.
The 35-year-old Santana was charged with second-degree sexual assault and two counts of impairing the morals of a minor. He entered an Alford plea, meaning he doesn’t admit guilt, but agrees that prosecutors have enough evidence to convict.
Authorities say Santana touched the 11 and 13-year-old girls in bed in November 2009.
His lawyer said he was “heavily intoxicated” at the time.
