Democratic Chair Asks FEC to Look into McMahon, Wrestling Campaign

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) _ The chairwoman of the Connecticut Democrats is seeking a federal elections investigation into whether Republican Linda McMahon’s Senate campaign illegally coordinated with the professional wrestling company where McMahon was CEO until last fall.

Nancy DiNardo said she filed a complaint on Wednesday with the Federal Election Commission.

The complaint comes two days after World Wrestling Entertainment launched an Internet-based campaign dubbed “Stand up for WWE” to combat what the Stamford-based company calls unfair attacks.

Opponents of McMahon have criticized everything from WWE’s programming to how it treats employees throughout the Senate race.

McMahon campaign spokesman Ed Patru calls the complaint “utterly baseless” and says the campaign doesn’t coordinate with WWE.
