HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) _ Low-interest loans are now available to help homeowners and businesses affected by a tornado last June in southwestern Connecticut.
Gov. M. Jodi Rell said Monday that loans are available for homeowners and businesses in Fairfield County and adjacent counties of Litchfield and New Haven and three counties in New York.
Rell says the Small Business Administration loans will be especially critical for the Bridgeport and Stratford areas because damage assessment teams determined that most of those who were affected were uninsured.
Loans can be used to repair or replace damaged homes or personal property. Renters can get loans to replace damaged personal property.
Businesses and nonprofit organizations can get loans to repair or replace damaged real estate, supplies, inventories, machinery and equipment and to help business operations.
