STORRS, Conn. (AP) _ Connecticut cornerback Blidi Wreh-Wilson has been named the Big East’s defensive player of the week.
The sophomore from Edinboro, Pa. scored a touchdown Saturday on a 44-yard interception return as the Huskies beat Vanderbilt 40-21.
He set up another score with a 24-yard return after a Vanderbilt fumble on the game’s first play from scrimmage and had five tackles.
The Huskies held the Commodores scoreless in the second half.
UConn tailback Jordan Todman was named to the conference’s weekly honor roll after running for 190 yards and two touchdowns. UConn plays its Big East opener on Friday at Rutgers.
