Hayes Trial Resumes after Weather Delay; Juror Excused

Judge Jon Blue has now convened court in the closing arguments phase of the trial of Steven Hayes.   A weather-related delay prevented the session from starting until shortly before 11 a.m.

The judge announced that there has been a “serious medical development” for one of the alternate jurors and he excused her from service.

The prosecution and defense are presenting their closing arguments today,  with the judge expected to charge the jury on Monday.

Hayes is charged,  along with Joshua Komisarjevsky,  with the home invasion murders of Jennifer Hawke-Petit and her daughters Hayley and Michaela.
