East Hartford Woman Killed by Stray Bullet Leaving Convenience Store

Hartford police say a 25-year-old East Hartford woman was killed overnight when she was struck by a stray bullet from an exchange of gunfire nearby.  Chief Daryl Roberts says Altanese Walker had just left a convenience store on Greenfield Street when she was hit in the torso.

In the words of Chief Roberts, “This is a terrible tragedy and the Hartford Police Department is desperately seeking the public’s cooperation and assistance in identifying the parties involved in the shootout or anyone who may have witnessed this incident.”

The shooting happened just after 10 p.m. Thursday.
